A very nice pub that is somehow not in the village and also not anywhere near the (dismantled) railway line, which is odd. They proudly display numerous awards from the local Camra branch, as well as a much larger collection of former pump clips. I perused a few of these while drinking my Oakham JHB (the alternative was Bombardier, with one pump unadorned by a pump clip at the time of my midweek visit), counting the beers I could have gone for if I had timed my visit a little better. To be fair, the JHB was in good nick, and went down well after a longish cycle ride to get here. The owners seemed very friendly and I would be happy to come back again, but it's got to be said that this pub is a seriously long way from anywhere.
