Bucking Fastard left this review about Chequers
An old country pub with exposed beams and low ceilings, you enter into a series of small rooms and alcolves. The bar is to the right of the corridor leading from front to back with two cosy drinking area while to the left are a small lounge,a one table alcove and a modest restaurant with two sofas .All seating is very traditional with many settles and the authenic atmosphere is maintained by no musak, fruit machines,TV screens, pool table etc.Four handpumps which always includes Adnams Bitter and two guests on my trip Buntingford Highwayman "IPA" 3.6% light brown(?),and St Austell Tribute.I would describe the quite extensive food offering as standard pub grub with mains around £8-£9.The draw here is the interior and there is also a small terrace to the front with tables and umberellas for external drinking and eating. This family run village pub features in the GBG.
