A sturdy looking corner pub and now sister pub of The Four Ale Tap House. The Inside is split into two drinking areas, the bar area which is L shaped then a square area at the rear. Mostly normal tables and chairs with a scattering of sofas and armchairs, the internal vibe was old school complete with stripey wallpaper. Cask beers on were ELB Quadrant Stout, Bowmans Quiver and from Flowerpots Goodens Gold and Kolsch.
Decent.

A large old fashioned (last decorated 1978??) gently shabby backstreet pub of the type that are slowly dying out (indeed, I am told that the long-term owners of 35+ years are selling-up and moving on by summer). Multiple rooms, the large rear area was in darkness in order to show the rugby on a big screen to an appreciative audience. This also meant that a platter of goodies was placed on the bar at half time and, despite clearly being interlopers, we were invited to fill our boots. GBG-listed for many a year and there were five casks on; my Titanic Chocolate & Vanilla Stout was probably the penultimate pint out of the barrel was drinkable enough (NBSS 3). Think I also spotted cider. Traditional décor points included a real fire, a few dozen jugs hung above the bar and a nice topper above the fireplace. I enjoyed my 30 minutes here and am glad I caught it before the almost inevitable changes to follow.

The Queen's Hotel is Gosport's last GBG pub, having been a regular entry now for over 25 years. It is a moderately sized Victorian building, now in the back streets, and has a few architectural gems inside, although much of the interior has been marred by badly fitted 20th Century features (such as the incongruous brick fireplace). The bar is a semi-open plan single room on the ground floor, slightly shabby which makes the building feel a bit neglected. The atmosphere is calm, the barman very welcoming and the locals civilised. There were 5 ales on - I had a pint of Hookey Gold which was in perfect condition. This is definitely one of Gosport's better pubs, an essential part of any crawl and well worth seeking out simply for its beer.
