Blue Scrumpy left this review about Kings Head
Remote village pub on the Roseland Peninsula. Luckily, we followed a van down the country lanes to this pub and it pulled into the car park area opposite the pub to deliver some gas. With one car parked there and with the van parking lengthways, the car park was full. We resorted to another car park a little further up the lane, itself almost full with a decorator's van.
I say luckily, as we soon discovered that the pub should have been closed on our lunchtime visit (immediately after midday). The landlady explained that their website and social media was no longer correct and that the pub only opens in the evening. With the gas delivery, the front door was open and she was happy to serve us a drink. Although, she requested that we take it outdoors. As such, I didn't get much of a look at the interior. The main bar is just to the right as you enter. I'm not sure if the room to the left was open. It seemed to be more of a storage area. But somewhere there was also a dining room. A menu on the outside listed a range that didn't seem like standard pub fare, apart from the Catch of the Day.
Outside, there were 4 tables in an area adjacent to the car park and there was also a larger sunken garden. The sunken garden seemed like a nice place to drink, but the higher tables afforded good views over a valley.
Just 1 of 4 handpulls was clipped with Treen's Classic. It was fairly average and not exactly a classic. Harbour Arctic Sky was on keg and the cider was from Cornish Orchards.
We were glad to catch this pub with the door open and grateful for the landlady for offering to serve us. It's remoteness is part of its attraction, but being in such a location with limited hours, I wonder how it survives.
