There is a knot of three pubs close together on Royal Hill with this being in the middle and dedicated to craft keg beer. The interior is long and thin, with lots of wooden features and seating to the front, the bar mid building to the right, with a back seating area of dining type tables leading to french windows to the beer garden.
Owned by Meantime, around 9 of their brews should be available along with at least 5 guests, and my Kernel Pale Ale although a little cold was not overcarbonated and proved a very enjoyable,if pricey, pint. There is a handy chalk board detailing the beer selection with ABV.
Food is served from a short, regularly changing menu with the focus on a modern take of pub grub staples and seemed to be available until 9.30pm.
There is a weekly Wednesday quiz and the young staff are most welcoming. If you are a real ale fan but tire of GK IPA,Doom Bar,Courage Best,Youngs Ordinary and so on,give this place a go and try a keg beer offering a lot more flavour, body and strength.
I would happily return.

The Greenwich Union is a long thin pub that I can imagine gets very ‘cosy’ at times busier than my recent Wednesday afternoon visit. The bar is stocked with the full Meantime Brewery range and I went for a stout that slipped down well.
There is some seating outside the front of the pub and a beer garden full of picnic tables at the rear.
I found the service to be friendly and this place was good for a quiet pint as there were no distractions such as a television or background music.

On our visit this weekend, I discovered that the Union has now totally given up on Draught ale and everything on the bar was from the Meantime keg range. I settled for a pint of IPA, which tasted excellent, although a little fizzy and cold for my taste. we sat in the rear garden soaking up the rays whilst punters indulged in the superb looking aasunday roasts that were being delivered from the kitchen. This is quite a trendy establishment and at £12 for a pint and a glass of Sauv, quite expensive, we did not stop for a second, opting to go back into town. The decor is modern but very well put together, I particularly liked the glass roofed eating area at the back of the pub. Probably would not go back as keg isn't really my thing but well worth a visit to make your own mind up.
