Bit of a surprise. It stands a different to its neighbours with what looks like 1980’s sandy brick cladding. Inside is unusual, hunting lodge in feel with a jumbo hearth and high cross-beamed ceiling, along with a suit of armour. Three Robbies ales and my Dizzy was very nice (NBSS 4) served-up by a friendly be-waistcoated barman. Well-worth a look-in. 7.5

As noted it is yet another Robinsons pub with beers from their range. Open plan with the bar to your right on entering. Relaxed feel about the place and on this occasion it was The Pogues that was emanating from the speakers for the duration of my visit.

The Piel Castle is one of several Robinson's pubs in Ulverston. It was quiet on my Saturday evening visit, with only a couple of others in when I arrived. Although, it had started to fill up by the time I left.

The 3 ales are all from Robinson's - Cumbria Way, Trooper & Dizzy Blonde.
