Tris C left this review about The Chilled Eskimo
Originally the Prince of Wales, this is a mid-19th century pub; until recently, the hanging sign featuring a rising sun motif, then seemingly an Eskimo, ‘chilling’ by a snowhole whilst canoodling with a polar bear.
The exterior is tidy enough, with picnic tables and bushy planters. Inside though and it’s a rather strange place; there’s really nothing in the way of décor, otherwise modernised with a cream of mushroom soup colour scheme, trendy wooden louver blinds, continental-style café chairs and tables and a decent soundtrack, the whole coming across like a rather smart yet half-finished gastropub, though somewhat incongruously with a pool table. Customers were few and all resolutely older male locals, at least one somewhat pickled.
The beverage front is just about the most limited I’ve seen outside a restaurant, with two banks of three taps dispensing just Strongbow, Fosters and Kronenbourg at a pricey cash-only £3.00 a half, served by a very friendly landlady, who ensured that a couple of pints were pulled through to maintain quality. She also told me that the place was only open on Fridays, otherwise it was a hire venue-only operation, past events visible on their Facebook page.
It's hard to rate this place: a smart though basic interior, no cask and Brigadoon-like opening times don’t exactly mark the place out for a revisit, but the friendly landlady gets the place up by an extra mark.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Chilled Eskimo
Ultra-basic corner local with little signage and a stripped-out light interior with limited seating and a pool table. No real ale of course, and limited keg selection, so opted for a quick Guinness (£2.50, half).
