With the Briarbank nextdoor still closed, this is as good a place as any to try a Briarbank beer.
Overlooking a quay, I was surprised to see bouncers on the door of this one. I dutily queued to enter and completed all Covid formalities. I was asked to find my own table.
I initially chose a table at the front. However, it soon started raining again and I sought shelter in the large courtyard area. Unfortunately, the place was packed and all tables were taken. I eventually returned to the small front patio, where there was another table with an umbrella providing shelter.
Seemingly with no chance of getting somebody to take my order, I found the online ordering system fairly straightforward and it even gave me an estimated time of arrival for my drink! There's a new experience to be had every day in this new Covid world!
The two ales were both from Briarbank - Briar Bitter & Grapefruit IPA. I believe there were various craft beers too.
Overall, this place was a little too busy to be fully enjoyed. It certainly attracts a young crowd, who were all fairly loud.
