An old hotel hugely reimagined by Robinson's, but just for once they seem to have done a nice job on the interior, with maps and photos of the Lake District interspersed with Victorian drawings and photos. The dark grey exterior just looks cheap and nasty. No background music at the time of my visit either, unless we're counting someone unseen becoming acquainted with a piano, which I quite enjoyed. On the beer front, not so much, with Dizzy Blonde the only cask beer and two pump clips turned around.

As below, much smaller than it looks from outside. Areas to the left and right, both done out in a quite upmarket way. The right is a restaurant with no dogs allowed, the left is a stylish bar area with piano. All very comfortable, reminds me of a refurbed London pub. Staff were welcoming, atmosphere pleasant, only Trooper available though.

A large Robinsons pub from the outside but it is surprisingly small inside. A thin interior with a 'reserved' section to your right on entering. The drinking area inside pretty sparse and banquette seating takes up the space opposite the bar. 4 handpulls all dispensing Robinsons beers. Not a great place but just about acceptable.
