A Beefeater which forms part of the Premier Inn complex on the edge of Frome. There are seats at the front in a tidy garden area next to the Premier section of a shared car park. On arrival we were greeted by an angry looking woman who tried to direct us to a table, but as we weren’t interested in the standard Beefeater slop we managed to find our own seats. Electronic entertainment was provided by a bank of gaming machines, while the background noise was from depressing pop music. There was internet connectivity, but it had screened out WhatPub due to its association with ‘alcohol and tobacco’. The bar staff were quite helpful, but there was no real pub atmosphere, not surprising given its location and style. The other customers were mainly groups of workmen and travellers who had stopped for refreshments. There was one ale on draft, Doombar, which was in average condition. Also on were Inch’s Cider, Guinness, Peroni, Strongbow, Coors, Stella, Carling, Madri, Moretti and Sharp’s Atlantic. Fine if you’re a lager lover breaking a journey, but if you’ve got time there are better pubs not far away.
