There was a small group of regulars around the bar, with whom my only interaction was to ask if I could get a shot of the four hand pumps, please. I went for the Moorhouses Straw Dog 4.2% (NBSS 3.5) which was £5.20/pint, but my half was £2.80. Prices in these villages in the Pendle countryside north of Barrowford seem to be quite a bit higher than in the towns and villages along the Colne valley, where prices up to £4 are more usual, though I didn't do a comprehensive survey. My visit must have coincided with a quiet period before the evening food service, as there were plenty of empty tables waiting for diners to arrive.

Well worth the short hop over from Barrowford. This traditional stone built pub had a modern interior, but somehow has retained a relaxing drinking spot atmosphere. In my opinion the chatty and friendly staff made this a welcoming haunt, especially with the locals. The pub has a high reputation for its food, but is not gastro pubby. There were four ales on pump, where I tasted one of the best pints of the day from Reedley Hallows Filly Close Blonde.
