Delighted to see it open late on a Friday night so we stumbled in here after getting off the train back late from an evening’s boozing in Wolverhampton. Better cask quality this time, with snouts of BCA’s Fireside (NBSS 3.5) and IPA (3) pushing the old boozeometer into the red zone. Benefitted, no doubt, from us visiting towards the end of a heavy session for the pub on a Friday night in mid-December.
January 2023
A BCA pub (taken on by them in 2019) and the first of many sampled that weekend. Consists of two long rooms either side of the servery with another one off-left (lounge, bar and snug). There’s an impressive dark wood bar back, quarter length wall tiling and etched windows, enough to get it into the CAMRA Inventory. 13 cask on the go which is a bit ambitious and sadly my BCA Chain was a bit warm, lacking throughput (NBSS 2.5). It’s GBG’23 listed which I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised by given the nearby Bird’s absence. It's well-worth a visit, though a cask gamble. Rated 7

Another cracking pub from BCA. A great election of beers on including Bewdley brewery Worcestershire Way, Mallinsons Archer, Beat brewery Metalhead, Blue monkey BG Sips, Lords Speed check, New Brew IPA, Wye Valley Butty Bach plus 4 BCA beers. The few we tried were excellent and the cobs were great too. I agree with Ray - A must do!

This pub ticked all the boxes for me, a heritage pub serving over 20 ales. We spent some time in here on our Monday afternoon visit, admiring the interior and the excellent restoration work. We also enjoyed a good few beers and had a splendid lunch. We tried the BG Sips, Salopian Chameleon, plus some Black Country Ales and a few others from the extensive range on offer. Staff in here were excellent - very welcoming and chatty. This is definitely a destination pub and easy to reach from Birmingham City Centre, as it's just a short walk down the hill from Stourbridge Junction Station. A must do.
