Family run for 62 years and I think they manage to avoid most of the tourist traps that other pubs in such a location would adhere. Felt the last review a little harsh on the scoring front.
For instance, they have a huge car park. With the location opposite the beach, you would maybe expect registration input details and fears of clamping/fines. Nope - just a notice saying no overnight parking.
Lets get onto the pub. Yes, its setup for diners and tourists - even in December. Our first visit and Xmas parties in full swing. We still managed to grab a table and a mince pie from the bar top. Second visit, more sedate and in for a couple of pints.
Skinners Jingle Knocker Xmas Ale for £4 a pint. Not bad, for the location. At all.

the only pub in Mawgan Porth and it's right next to the beach so a real godsend for walkers in particular. we're very much in expensive family dining pub territory here and it's a modern place inside and out. shrieking kids were the predominant clientele this morning so I quaffed my drink pretty quickly. it's not too bad for a pint if you're here but definitely not worth going out of your way for. beers were Sharps Own and Doom Bar, St Austell Tribute and the more interesting Cornish Crown Helter Skelter.

This pub is in the 2015 Good Beer Guide and we called in today. The bus is the 87 between Newquay and Padstow, and stops quite close. Large pub with a lovely big garden. St Austell beer plus Doom Bar and a good food menu. We enjoyed the beers from the garden which overlooks the local beach
