The building maybe old but the interior is modern despite traditional furniture. At the front there are small sections either side of the front door while up a staircase is a lounge and the loos.Tables with menus, some set for dining .The L shaped bar has the handpumps in the rear tap room, quite open plan with access to a very large beer patio with pic nic benches and the main draw when the weather is good.Meals served and diners will be scattered around the interior,it all feels very corporate.
The ale choice on my visit was Leeds Pale,Best,Midnight Bell (all now brewed by Kirkstall) with guests Roosters Yorkshire Best,Ilkley Blonde and Wilde Child Humble Beginnings (out of condition, hazy in a bad way ,NBSS 1.5) with another clip reversed.
A selection of low ABV ales with only the Midnight Bell offering any meaningful style rotation, poor conditioning, corporate feel means I wont bother returning, stick to the Grove and Northern Monk tap if in Holbeck.

A pub that seemed rather contrived to me, plenty of uniformed staff about the place that appeared to be doing very little other than chat amongst themselves, I had been warned by the landlord in the previous pub that the beer is poor (he used a different word)and he was bang on , my Full circle Hoop was next to undrinkable, rather than disturb the chatty staff to get it changed, we left the beer and moved on to more promising pastures..

The Midnight Bell is a fairly new pub that is housed in an old building,i walked past it in the morning and did'nt notice it.
Once inside there is a L shaped room which has a tiled floor, the seating is mainly normal tables and chairs, there is also a decent room upstairs which also has normal tables and chairs.
The pub is a Leeds brewery tied house, there was a very good choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Leeds Best which went down well, the other beers i noted were Pale,Gold,Midnight Bell,Gingerbread ? and Intrepid Porter.
The pub was packed on my early Saturday evening visit with Leeds bright young people, background music was playing.
I quite liked it here.
