I am never sure whether to feel happy or sad when I see the Provenance Inns sign - it does mean that a village pub has been saved and I can expect some decent ale, but on the other hand it is likely to have been modernised beyond recognition into a posh restaurant, albeit usually retaining a 'pub' side. This one is no exception, with an upmarket stone floored bar in the old pub and a big and flashy modern restaurant behind. Ales on were Theakstons Best and Village White Boar.
