Opposite of a pub, as I would describe it.
Walked in and every table was full of diners. Walked to the bar and was instantly barked at as to "where was I sitting?"
My answer was nowhere, I had just walked in.
I was told to find a non existent table and someone would come and take my order.
I told them to stuff it.
I imagine that rules implemented at one stage of Covid are still being adhered to.
I missed out on Thwaites :-)

I was here in August 2010, when the weather was not much better than we're having now in January. Like a lot of country pubs, this one seems to rely on the trade brought by visitors requiring meals, so the beer can be a bit of an afterthought. In fact it took several attempts for the barman to fit a half pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord into the glass. There are three pubs in this village, and they seemed to be competing to see who could provide the loudest "background music". Luckily the weather didn't prevent me taking refuge in the garden, which has seats right beside the river and with a decent view of the bridge.
