Looking like a gastro pub, and the style of the name and the décor very much suggest this is, however the atmosphere is one of a popular village local and the cask ales are extremely well kept if my pint the other night was anything to go by. There are two rooms at the front, one marked “bar”, the other “games room” this containing darts, pool table and a big screen, drinks in here are serviced via a hatch. The bar to the right is in a crisp modern style with a laminate floor and tables and chairs, all of which match, with a bench seat at each end. Some original paintings line the walls and have price tickets so I assume they are for sale. At the back and to one side at a lower level is a dining area, in the middle some steps lead down to the kitchen and possibly other public areas. Four handpumps with beers from local microbreweries, including a house blonde from Rudgate, a T-bar holds the usuals. I will be back, probably to sample the food with Mrs B.
