Livingstone’s is a large pub that has been split into a Hungry Hogz restaurant at the front and Jennie’s Bar at the rear. I didn’t venture into the American themed restaurant, but I did note the opening times of 17:00 during the week and midday at the weekend. I left with the impression that the bar and restaurant are separate concerns. There is a large function room that I imagine is affiliated with the bar.
Jennie’s Bar is split level with a pool table and dartboard in the lower sofa lined area. The front of the central bar was unused so the handful of locals had gathered in the rear section where some background music played from the jukebox. Whilst waiting at the bar I noted advertisements for live Saturday evening music, karaoke Fridays and a Sunday quiz.
At the bar I counted four hand pumps in amongst the standard keg range. These were drawing two Adnams beers and a guest, the forth pump went unused.
This large pub and restaurant is surrounded by parking and out the back is a grass covered beer garden that supports picnic tables and a children’s play area. There was also a bouncy castle, but it was filthy so we didn’t let the kids go on it. The music from the bar is piped into the garden and apparently there is a free BBQ every Sunday from 15:00 until 17:00, weather permitting.
The service was very friendly, but I found the set-up to be disjointed. I’m not sure that I would revisit if in the area again.
