Lively town centre pub. “Peculiar furnishings included large semi-circular booths and painted tables, while the whole place is hung with flags and other detritus, much on a Mod theme including bits of scooter. Sports TV screens also seem present in most directions” is a good summation. Came in because of the Bass which was average (NBSS 2.5) - Doombar, Abbot and Castle Rock Harvest were the others. Amusement value provided by the earnest menu of Heinz soups on offer - £2.50 and add a slice of b&b for 50p Useful to know it’s here, a bit different. Maybe worth a half of your time if crawling.

I wasn't sure what to expect when this pub was added at the last minute to our pub research itinerary, but our local knowledge assured us that the beer was good, and it wasn't yet gone 4pm on a Friday, so nothing would have kicked off yet. He was certainly right about the beer, with Bass, Harvest Pale, Abbot and Doom Bar on the hand Pumps, plus Old Rosie cider. My Bass was NBSS 3, so not as good as at the Woodlark an hour ago. Nevertheless, the beer was fine, the atmosphere was pleasant and the pub itself was looking good.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The White Horse
Quite an attractive building, with a few interesting features on the façade (including the old-style pub sign above the main corner door). Refurbished with a light colour scheme inside the 'L'-shaped main bar and side room, with some semi-circular booths and small high tables. Various TV screens. Often a live music pub, although not on my Wednesday evening revisit. Doom Bar, Bass, Abbot, Castle Rock Harvest Pale (£3.80) and Old Rosie cider available from the total of eight handpumps this time.
