The White Hart is situated in the Essex countryside. However, this former village pub has now been rebranded as the TWH Steakhouse.
The focus is now firmly on food. Although they didn't seem too peturbed that we were only there for drinks. But why would they when they can charge the earth for them.
There's lots of nooks and crannies here to explore, but all tables are laid out for dining and exploring is not really encouraged!
Adnams Bitter is the solitary real ale available these days. I'm sure the steaks are nice. But this is no longer a pub worth visiting.

Yellow washed weatherboarded cottage style pub in a fairly rural section of Essex, sympathetically extended with a conservatory style area to the rear.The front porch opens into a fairly spacious room, with the bar along one side.To one’s left, in the former cottage area, a fireplace,some pictures of the pub in former days, and tables laid up for dining.
There are one or two handpumps for show, but all real ales are served by gravity dispense from a temperature controlled taproom to the rear. Adnams’ Southwold Bitter and Broadside, along with Mighty Oak IPA and the ineffable Oscar Wilde Mild are the regular beers,with, in season , a number of guests.Fizzy offerings are also available, as are a number of ciders.
We tend to visit at lunchtime, the trade being of mature years: meals being an important feature, which is understandable given the remote location. Service seems efficient and jolly. After one visit, I felt as if the pub was becoming slightly corporate:subsequent visits have allayed that fear.
Everything is very neat and shipshape,and a lot of thought has gone into the planting of the attractive gardens at the front.

We visited this pub at the suggestion of one of my drinking partners. When we arrived it is obvious that someone has invested a considerable amount of money in a makeover. There is an L shaped bar, a conservatory at the back, and an outside pets corner. A good selection of real ales are served straight from the barrel from the tap room behind the bar which is good to see. The food selection looks good, and the prices are sensible. It sounds good, but there are down sides. Even though the beer is served from an air conditioned room, it is set too low, and the real ale is served at lager temperature. The piped music is too load, so people speak loudly so they can be heard, which makes the whole place noisy. It is a shame the makeover includes white upvc windows, and overall it feels like it was refurbished from a text book to be in a film set. This may improve when it is worn a bit. It is not normally open all day during the week, but it was when we visited, as it was a Bank Holiday Monday. The main bar area was a bit busy, so we sat in the conservatory. When my friend arrived, he suggested that we moved as they close the conservatory in the evening. At about 10:00, we were asked to move because one of the locals and his wife fancied a game of darts, and we were in the way of the until then hidden darboard. This is a real pet hate of mine, and smacks of the your sitting in our seats mentality. As we had moved once, and had been sitting there for over two hours we were not impressed. We shall not be returning.
