Quite an attractive looking place, though on closer inspection it needs a bit of TLC and that is also true of the two room interior, serviced by a central bar. The distinction between lounge (green shades) and public (red) has faded with the passing of time, though the younger lads were in the left room so I parked myself in the other which had an attractive suntrap bay window and a conversation about crocuses. Six pumps with two on, Thwaites Wainwright and a barely drinkable John Smiths cask. There's potential here but this visit was poor. It currently feels like the kind of place that’s in the firing line if pub closure and conversion rates remain high.

This pub is not on the site of the old cattle market,the cattle market was behind this pub and the pub that served the cattle market was the Drovers Arms this pub and the cattle market are now a tesco car park and tesco supermarket.

The Durham Ox is a really decent small two roomed pub the small bar is on the left hand side and the slightly bigger lounge is on the right this is the sort of room i feel comfortable in there were four pumps on the bar with John Smiths cask,Tetley bitter and two yorkshire micros i carnt remember what i had here but it was a light drink and very well kept.
this pub is well worth the shott walk down norwood from the Corner House
