Prince Louis is a large L-shaped McMullen’s Chicken & Grill where I recently decided to stop for some midweek lunch. Wooden flooring is found throughout, apart from around the central curved L-shaped serving counter where there are hexagon tiles. This counter faces a dimly lit seating area with high tables to the right and Lounge seating adjacent to a fireplace and large burner in the right rear corner. Seating runs opposite the counter across the rear wall and there’s a large dining area in the left rear corner. Premium keg options were available from the bar that supports a bank of five and a bank of four hand pumps, but only Mac’s own IPA, AK and Rivertown Isle were available on cask. The service was polite, but the chicken burger was tiny and cold with a stale bun. It’s the worst meal I’ve had for a long time, which I found surprising for a food led pub that claims to be a chicken grill. Maybe I was just unlucky because the pub was starting to fill up as I picked at my disappointing food. I think I’ll look for another option next time I’m in the area.
