Cask here was Diggers Gold from Grey Trees (and a very fine pint it was) plus one that was brewed for them namely the Cowbridge Pale from the Coach Brewing Co. Keg from a tap wall behind the bar counter in the entrance room was Guinness, Cruz, Inch’s, Moretti Sale Di Mare, Amstel, Beer Riff from the Coach Brewing Co, Steady Rolling Man from Deya, the Kaleidoscope pale ale and the AF version from Wiper and True and Cherry Kisses from Vault City. Keg on the taps on the bar counter in the larger seating area was Guinness, Amstel and Cruz again plus Inch’s Riverside as the fruit flavoured cider option.
Entered from the rear into a modern stone tiled floor area with the bar counter in the rear left-hand corner, with some tall stool seating at the bar counter. Regular tables and chairs and lots of colourful framed prints on the walls. The TV was switched off and a poppy soundtrack playing. A small outside smoking area accessed off patio style doors in the rear right-hand corner. Larger area accessed through a walkway to the left of the bar counter and with its own bar counter, to the immediate right-hand side of the walk through. Bare boarded space in front of this bar counter with barrel type tables and tall metal stools. There is a dartboard in this area that would require some of the barrels to be moved. The area also provides access via patio style doors to an outside raised seating area with picnic style benches. Straight on from the walk through is a dark stoned tiled area with regular tables and chairs plus a couple of facing leather sofas in an alcove mid venue on the left-hand wall. The venue hosts a variety of street food pop-up’s and there is a monthly quiz. Was well worth the rather hazardous walk back into the centre of Cowbridge after not spotting the rather perilous walk on the leg main road required for the return as was safely inside an Uber for the inward leg!
