Situated a little way to the west of town near the local steam railway, this was probably the busiest of Welshpool's pubs on my Friday evening visit. There are numerous rooms spread out around a central bar, with diners mostly towards the rear.

Popular with a wide mix of people from young to old and probably with more women in than men, it had quite a lively atmosphere. Despite there being many staff, a lot of them looked too young to serve. I was eventually served by the landlady. The cask selection was Magic Dragon Eyton Gold & Border Bitter & Salopian Oracle. I ordered the Bitter, but after a trip to the cellar, she informed me that it was finished and suggested I had the Gold, which I duly did.

A popular place that is popular with both drinkers and diners. It hadn't initially been on my shortlist of pubs to visit in the town, but despite the wait to be served, I was glad I gave it a try.
