Mark Davey left this review about The Griffin Inn
The Griffin Inn is difficult to describe. It's a mix of a pub, a restaurant and a B&B, but all in a good way. The staff are friendly and helpful and there are lots of nice little touches for guests who are staying the night.
The pub part is spit into 4 rooms, 3 primarily for dining and one that doubles as the bar. The dining areas are all well decorated and have a mix of tables and chairs. The bar area has 4 leather sofas arranged round coffee tables next to the open log fire and a collection of bar stools for the odd bar prop. To be fair, the bar area is really there to serve as a waiting area for the restaurant and could not really be described as a traditional pub, not that this is an issue, especially if you are a resident when the staff are happy to reserve a sofa for you whilst you eat.
There were four great beers on the bar during my stay from Otley, Brecon, Monty's and another that I can't remember. All were well kept and the barman knew his stuff. the wine by the glass is also excellent if a little pricey.
Food at the Griffin is superb, as is the wine list and on the Saturday night we were there, the place was packed.
There are 7 rooms at the Griffin, we stayed in room 4 for the night. The room was small but very well appointed with everthing you need for a short stay but no TV. Unusually for a hotel, due to the non existant mobile phone coverage, the phones in the rooms were free to use. Also unusually for a B&B, the place is totally dog friendly with bowls and blankets on offer for your little 4 legged friends.
Breakfast was the usual B&B fare of the full Welsh, toast and cereal.
All in all an excellent establishment that has found the perfect niche in it's environment.
