A very modern place, up a couple of steps (basement section also) with a patio outside at the back. Not much pub atmosphere, with a cafe/bistro sort of feel, but a good selection of Yorkshire ales including examples from Ilkley, Roosters and Kirkstall. Nice enough.

Some of the bright young folk of Ilkley have moved on since Ray's visit 10 years ago! This is still a popular pub, though now with just five cask beers available. The pub is on two levels, with several different rooms leading off the bar, including outside, and a spiral staircase leading to the lower floor. Cask beers are split over two sets of hand pumps, and listed on a blackboard. My half of Three Swords was very good, and £5.20/pint. Background music mostly in the Indy category, which is tolerable while drinking a half, but I wouldn't want to stay here for a session.

A decent bar this one with a good range of local ales, service at the bar was friendly and efficient. I found this bar to have a nice relaxed atmosphere, with a mixed bunch of diners and drinkers, from walkers, shoppers and as Alan Mentions below, the bright young folk of Ilkley. Eight ales on handpump, so we went for the Electric Bear NZ Pale and Okells Manx Pale Ale.
