The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming to young and old. I think this is used as a Pub in which Students, locals and tourists stay for an hour or more to eat or watch a match rather than the quick drinks and on to the next pub that Aber is popular for. Erratic opening times from Scholars and later openings of the nearest Pub's to it put me off me coming as often to this area of town. This is still a very good unique Pub which is worth the walk, if you can guarantee its open. Unusually for Aber it's Brains Pub that actually has a lot of well kept Brains Beers on tap. I did not notice the Super Strong Guests that that it tried out a while back.

Victoriana slate-lined ground floor based around a square central bar (that allows for a multitude of places to wait for a drink and not get seen). Lots of nooks and crannies to sit in, the upstairs is particularly good. Has a couple of real ales (usually OSH and Rev James), dart board and a quiz on a Sunday night. Clientèle often higher-end students and locals.
