Although it changed it’s name to The Monument or rather to “The MonumenT Pub and Sports Bar” in spring 2023 the pub was sold to Trust Inns in 2024 and reverted to the Hoghton Arms soon after.

Noisy former Irish bar right by the station. A bit rough and not one to go out of your way to visit. There are much better places in Southport. And a lot worse too.

This pub is no longer an O'Neills pub, its name has reverted to the Hoghton arms and is being run as family business, it has been refurbished to make it light and airy and offers good food until 18:00, with darts, pool, quiz nights, TV, and guest ales...and the staff are very friendly.
