The Old Stillage is situated towards the bottom end of Church Road.
Once inside there is a single L shaped room which is bare boarded, there is a long bar running down the right side, there are settees and stools to the front right and normal tables and chairs on the left side, there is also a pool table on the rear left side.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Twisted Oak Fallen Tree, which was a decent drink, the other real ales were Twisted Oak Old Barn and Cottage Honey Bunny.
There was some decent background music playing.
I thought this was a decent pub to have a drink in.

A series of small, old buildings knocked together at some point to create a pub, these days it has an ale house vibe with a restaurant and kitchen in a seperate section to the left side.It has a low ceiling and is split into several areas ,with a long bar running most of the length of the right hand wall. There is a dividing wooden frame holding a lattice, which creates a seperate seating section both opposite the bar and below the front windows. On the way to the beer terrce there is room for a pool table. Two flatscreens were showing Euro championship footie and there was a good ,mixed crowd inside .
At the bar there are five handpumps with three working on my trip serving Twisted Oak Fallen Tree,Electric Bear Spilt Milk and Animal Brewing Manta Ray (good condition £3.20).I believe the relationship with Arbor ales is much looser now,no sign of their beers on my trip. However the selection was interesting and the 2016 GBG entry is warranted,it also seemed the best option locally for real ale and is not too far from Lawrence Hill station if using this method to crawl outlying real ale pubs in the suburbs of the City.I would certainly pop back again.

Very clearly the Stillage is probably the only good pub in the area. Its a total freehouse owned by the people who bring us the delicious Arbor Ales and there are always 5 ales of excellent quality on handpump, usually 4 from Arbor and a guest. The staff are generally friendly and the clientelle is far better than when it was just another Punch Taverns shambles. On the 43/44/45 bus route and 10 minutes from Lawrence Hill station. Come and enjoy!!!
