How amusing - A good Beer Guide 2022 entry and informing me (as per the previous review) that this was the Kebab and Calculator. You hum it and I'll smash your face in!
I had to come and visit.
A bit new build - I'm guessing from the 60s? Unusually circular, single roomed. Most tables set up for dining - I think its slightly Gastro...
Beers - six cask - Tribute, Purity, Butcombe, My chosen TT Landlord and a couple of others. TT was in perfect condition.
I also had Sunday lunch here - which was excellent - super service and a good meal.

Better known to many as “The Kebab & Calculator” from the BBC TV Series The Young Ones, this is an unusually shaped, circular pub consisting of one single room wrapped around a central island bar. There is a limited amount of outside seating but the outlook is not that great being opposite a busy junction and a supermarket.
Internally it’s had something of a makeover since my previous visit, and is now quite contemporary with smooth, dark wooden boards on the floor, dark green wood panelling on the lower part of the walls and cream plasterwork above. The wood panelling extended to the full height of the wall in one back corner making for a more elegant feel. Wall decorations were fairly minimal, although there were some old black and white photographs of the pub, the swimmers at the local lake and the Concorde assembly line, as well as an oversized clock and a collection of butterflies mounted in a display case. I did notice a projector screen rolled up on one wall, so perhaps they screen major sporting fixtures, although it certainly did not strike me as a sports bar by any means. The ceiling was white wooden panelling and included a number of large padded discs, which I can only assume were some sort of acoustic treatment. The atmosphere might be described as atmospheric or gloomy depending on your point of view, with the lighting provided by a few low hanging globe lamps and plenty of candles in old gin bottles.
Food seems to be a major focus here, and although we didn’t inspect the menu, we did note that many, perhaps most, of the tables were reserved for diners on our Saturday evening visit, and they seemed to be doing a good trade.
Beers on tap were Butcombe Original, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Tribute, Dark Star Hophead, Ubu Purity and Jaipur IPA. Ciders meanwhile were Aspall’s and Stowford Press.
