Bucking Fastard left this review about Sir William Peel

A proper old school ale house, this is the place to sup real ale in Sandy. It's traditional and friendly with the bar immediately in front of the front door with two wings on either side with trad furniture with the left side leading to a patio and beer garden. The walls are covered in lots of brewery prints ,poster and branded morrors ,maybe not originals but lending character. The only negative was the muzak coming from a local commercial radio station, always a mistake in my book.A simple play list at modest volume would have been much better.
Pleasingly the bar snacks were displayed in a glass shelved cabinet on the bar top and the freshly made sausage rolls, cobs ,pies and pasteries were excellent, great value and the perfect accompanyment to the fine ale. There were 6 on during my trip RCH East Street Cream (NBSS 3.5),Nethergate Stour Valley and Eon's Milk Stout (NBSS 4.5),Hook Norton Off the Hook,Vale Tickety Brew (NBSS 4 ) and Batemans XB.We sampled across this range and were inpressed by the ale conditioning. There is also a beer menu of belgian bottles together with some indie keg beers not at the bar but in a back room, where occasionally more ale options will be available and there is a CAMRA discount on real ale. There is some indie keg beer on the bar too and I had a big finish with Burning Sky Lost Cause Foil Tip,a 6% belgian cheery porter, terrific.
We all enjoyed a long session here and most certainly will call back again .It's not too far to the station with regular Thameslink train services so a viable rail ale venue if in the area.Don't miss out.
