Attractive country pub just to the north of Hungerford. It has an open-plan interior with brick pillars and a fireplace helping to create some separate areas. Diners sit to the left, the bar is to the middle and the right-hand end has a TV and some games, including a small table football game. A wifi password was available behind the bar.
A few diners were in and a festive menu was available. The bar area has numerous pumpclips above it, albeit hidden by Christmas decorations for our December visit. 4 handpulls regularly dispense Ramsbury Gold & Farmer's Best. The guest beer was Tring Ridgeway, with the fourth pull unclipped. Perhaps advice from the previous review has been heeded. There were a couple of special local Christmas vodkas also being promoted.
Outdoor seating comprised a single table near the entrance and a patio to the right-hand side of the pub. Dogs are welcome and the pub also hosts quiz nights. It is listed in the Good Beer Guide. We found the staff to be friendly. I would say it is worth a visit.

Quiet when we got in on Saturday lunchtime, the arrival of our walking group caused a bar kerfuffle! A perhaps ambitious four ales on - Ramsbury Gold, West Berks, Loose Cannon, Hooky Gold. The Ramsbury was pretty listless. My advice would be to knock the ales down to three, and see a faster turnover…

A bit of a local news story, as it re-opened a year ago under community ownership. An exterior to entice though a pretty small interior which was rammed on Sunday with diners, making civilized drinking inside impossible - though luckily there was a nice side patio garden (to the right, past the traps) to relax in. The two minutes I spent in the interior showed a quite pleasant ambience, it’s nice and homely with a real fire, hunting and fishing prints plus a selection of magazines and newspapers. Three ales on; West Berks GOB, Holts and Hooky (good nick). Cheap too, only £2.50 for a half of ale and a lemonade. Toilets were high-class and spotless, very impressed. All-in-all this is a nice little place though best avoided at peak times if your sole purpose is drinking. Good luck to them. Rated 8
