Less potting shed than some of their outlets, maybe it’s gone up market as this is affluent Kew, the beer prices are certainly up market, £6.70 for a mediocre pint of Landlord. There are three pulls lurking at the end of one counter like a dirty secret, given the beer quality that’s about right. Only the aforementioned Landlord was available and I didn’t want a higher end UK keg from the wide choice on the two big pipe horseshoes or a bottled beer from their quite decent European range. Expanding across a number of shops has made for lots of separate areas and cubby holes but in a similar style as Ray found all those years ago, it’s also left a number of entrances and a servery with two counters. There’s a rear yard away from the noise and fumes of Kew Bridge Road. Toilets are upstairs.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Botanist
A bar restaurant, which spans across a row of former shops. The interior is gastro pub style, with a small and central bar and various seating areas across both sides of the main entrance. Ale wise, there were four handpumps offering up Oakham JHB, Wychwood Gold, Doombar and Acorn Barnsley Gold. We went for the Oakham JHB, which was expensive. The service was ok, in spite of the staff rushing around attending to their diners.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Botanist
The former micro-brewery equipment has been removed since my previous visit five years ago, and the whole place has been refurbished too. The main bar area now seems more open and not over cluttered with furniture, but there are still a variety of other seating and dining areas available. Mostly dark gastro-pub decor. Rear patio beer garden. Four of the six handpumps were displaying clips this time: Pride, Doom Bar, Red Squirrel London Porter (which very annoyingly turned out to be off) and Tribute (£1.95 for a grumpy half before I moved on).
