The Barley Mow is a very quiet backstreet pub, an early 20th Century (Edwardian?) end of terrace refurbished during the last few years and providing the usual facilitites for its local clientele. There is a patio at the rear which is mainly used by smokers. There is a bit of a village feel to it, and there is a strong, but not unpleasant, aroma of wet dog about the place. The bars have been knocked through into a single room with a mix of painted floorboards and carpet. They hold darts and poker evenings, and I found it very cliquey and unwelcoming. No real ale on offer, so I didn't linger, but I guess it's OK as these places go.

Recommendation by new owner!!!!! The Barley Mow is now a bright modern pub with a fantastic new crowd of regulars. In addition to the bar there is a lounge area with modern leather sofas and a low coffee table, a dining area and a pool/darts area.The everyday menu offers a good range at very competitive pricing (The fishcakes and cola ribs are fantastic!) There is also an all day breakfast menu for Saturday and Sunday lunches are only £5.95 for 2 courses!
