A cafe style bar with folding back french windows to the front in fine weather, there is a roped off cellar but the servery is on the ground floor to the right. Two Sky Sport screen on mute with the cricket showing, and a decent soundtrack not too loud .There are high tables near the bar and to the front with a sunken area with lower profile modern furniture and a few metal chairs and tables on the street. There is some pallet rough wood facing and a vague hipster vibe. There is a very long gin menu.
There was a friendly welcome from the young bar man who helped with ale advice and curry recommendations. This place will always have a decent ale line up with TT Landlord a regular ,with rotating guests on my trip Beartown Creme Bearlee,North Brewing Pinata,Buxton Low Tor,Roosters Yankee and a very decent Kirkstall Dissolution IPA.Thats a good range over 6 handpumps for my money.
This bar is the sister operation to The Corner House just down the road, and there is a listing on the wall for the Corner Houses' live music spanning the weekends. The staff will appear in both locations although there is a wider ale choice in here.A bar to include on any crawl around the city and a great triple header with it's sister pub and the Old Harkers merely yards away.

Visited on Saturday night as a last stop before getting the train home. I spotted four or so hand pulls for cask ale and there seemed to be a decent selection on from what I remember. In the gents, the urinals are made of beer barrels. I had a Lemon Fool by Fyne Ales and my drinking accomplice went for Abyss, a lovely stout by Neptune. I'd be happy to go again.

Firstly, it is not a cellar - it is dimly lit bar with flashing fairy lights. Painted white walls, wood cladding, very cacophonous and full of powdered locals at 2pm on Saturday. Chunky wood plank tables and silly small stools to sit on made for an uncomfortable stay. Five ales on with an eclectic selection but we defaulted to the excellent Hawkshead, and the resultant beer was close to perfect condition (NBSS 4.5). Despite the superb beer I struggled to enjoy this one much and I felt much more at home in the sister pub, the Cornerhouse. Maybe I caught it at a bad time.
