A tidy Nicholson's pub tucked in a backstreet by the castle. It has multiple levels with lots of dark wood and is quite pleasant, despite the obvious tourist focus. Ales on were London Pride, Brains Rev James, Sharps Coaster and the house St Austell ale, with Hophead 'coming soon'.

Nicholson's pub close to the castle. I've been here a couple of times before but not since 2015. This is a busy pub which had lots of Christmas decorations and it had Christmas music playing. Seating is all around the front bar, with upstairs and downstairs rooms to the rear left. The upstairs level had another exit onto a different street. There does seem to be a split between drinkers at the front and diners to the rear. There is a full food menu, in addition to bar snacks. Many tables to the front were reserved for drinkers and were reserved for up to 4 hours. We watched as even the locals arrived to their pre-booked tables. It seems if you don't book, you will be standing.

At the bar, there was the usual range of cask ales for a Nicholson's. Their St Austell Nicholson's Pale Ale Was triple clipped. Other national beers were St Austell Tribute, Sharp's Sea Fury, Timothy Taylor Landlord & Titanic Plum Porter. Hogs Back Surrey Nirvana was the only semi-adventurous cask ale. Craft beers were Mondo Road Soda & Signature Backstage IPA. The cider was Weston's Vintage. Mulled wine and cider were also available.

My Road Soda was nicer than I'd expected. I still like the atmosphere in this pub but the Nicholson's beer range still lacks originality these days. So, it will probably be another decade before I visit again.

A Nicholson's pub opposite Windsor Castle, bar staff friendly enough but the drinks are expensive but I expected that due to it's location. Not the most comfortable of pubs and lacking any real atmosphere but if in Windsor again I would not have a problem returning here for a beer.
