A large drinking barn on the market place, with loud pop music and racing on tv. Three hand pumps, one with a cider, one with a real ale, the third being turned round at the time of my visit. My half of Consett Cast Iron was in good condition and at just £1.35 good value too. (There are disabled toilets downstairs.)

The Royal Oak is a good pub to go to...but its not if you don't have kids. Too many prams, too many kids. The food is ok...obviously most of it is out of a microwave and they got rid of the best food "The FlatBread"....Bring Back The FlatBread !!!! The staff are mostly a laugh..Zoe is fuuny and very easy on the eye !!!!
