This roadside pub is on a corner of a busy road not far from the A6 Derby Spar, on the outer edges of the city. Having walked here from Aston I was initially disappointed to find it dark and seemingly closed, but then I realised that there is a car park, so customers are entering from behind the building. And the front door was not locked, as I had initially assumed, anyway, just pulled to. It was fairly quiet, with lunchtime diners having mostly left. The bar, made of stone and with a wooden counter, is fairly close to the front door, with rooms either side. Several hand pumps, with three beers on from Church End, Castle Rock and Bass. The last named was in very good condition: my second of the day and both NBSS 4.

Nice village pub with a long narrow front Bar room , there is a seperate room to the left of te bar with very low beams and a resturant to the rear of the pub .
Lots of diners spread around but also a few drinkers .
Four real ales available , Bass was the house beer with others from Leeds , Tollgate and Ledbury , bad luck for me i was driving so had to settle for a coffe served by the very attractive blonde barmaid .
Good pub warrants another visit and someone else can drive .
