The Turf Tavern is a large solid stand-alone Hungry Horse with a strip of seating on a patio and adjacent AstroTurf out the front, I assume the fake greenery isn’t where the pub’s name comes from. The interior is T-shaped with seating on a tartan carpet to the left of the entrance and a sunken seating area with red carpet to the right where some booths are found alongside a kid’s toy grab machine. My visit was a couple of days before Scottish schools reopened after the summer holidays so there were a few children milling about during my recent Monday afternoon visit. The counter runs up the centre facing some tables to the left, and at the rear is a pool table that is faced by more booths that run along the rear windows that overlook the large car park. The service was friendly, but the choice of mainstream standard and premium keg won’t have me rushing back to this family food led pub.

Primarily we were entised in by the offer of 2 meals for 8 pounds and the car park near Wicks and DFS. Wifey thought the F was a D on the name of the pub . Probably a cross between a sports bar and a restaurant with an emphisis on the former. Pool table, bandits, big screen tv. Tried to ignore the man kicking the carp out of the pinball machine.
Very spacious. GKIPA and Marstons pedigree. The Tolly Cobbold Phoenix had just run out and the Ye Olde Trip clip turned the other way. Tried the pedigree which was ok.
Miserly portions - had to steal wifeys chips. So no real complaints achieves a six.
Bar staff deserves a mention (and they usually do) one girl on her own on the bar and serving food. Splendid. Slightly as a newt tonight (been at the homebrew).

poor quality service and food cold unappertising, bland atmosphere definitely a place to avoid if you want a good night out
