The Inn on the Quay is on the south side of Goodrington Park next to the seafront and a short walk from Goodrington Railway Station. The park houses a boating lake, children’s playground and crazy golf and next to the pub is a Premier Inn and small sea life centre that is free to enter. There are two large seating areas full of picnic tables and the one at the front of the pub affords views of the beach and West Cliff.
The pub itself is Brewers Fayre so it is food led and family orientated. It opens at 11:00 and the kitchen opens at midday when cheap pub co food can be purchased. I ate with the family and the quality was reasonable for the price, but I was a little bit put off by the barman who proudly stated whilst taking my order that any food we received that wasn’t up to scratch would be replaced no questions asked. The menu on our table was dirty and I had to return a glass that had some rice stuck to it. We decided to stick to the burgers which are hard to mess up. The bar is stocked with standard draught and the sole hand pump was off, although a Tribute badge was present.
This is a very big pub and as I have a couple of nippers I was glad to find a small soft play centre in the left hand side.

For a cheap food option this place is ok, but we wouldn’t go out of our way to visit here again and if I was without the kids I wouldn’t entertain the idea of a return visit.

This is a large L shaped open plan pub with multiple levels that is a Brewers Fayre (Whitbread) and also part of a Premier Inn hotel. The pub is ideally situated on the sea front in the centre of the bay so the views are excellent. If you enter the building from the side that faces the sea then you will find yourself in a long room stretching left to right, the bar counter is on the left and along the back wall. If you walk left past the bar then you will find a second large area to your left which also contains a large children’s play room. I counted two fire places, one of which had an interesting tall cast iron log burning stove and there were various old photos of the area on the walls. There is a large patio with around a dozen picnic tables on the sea side of the building and an even bigger patio and beer garden on the other side of the pub overlooking Goodrington beach.

No regular ales on this visit although I believe that Wadworth 6X is normally on.

A fairly standard family restaurant type pub, the setting is fantastic, the food was good and reasonably priced, but the service was slow and when our desserts arrived none of the staff thought to clear the plates from our main course, so the table was very cluttered. We had our little one with us, therefore we required a child’s high chair but every one that we were offered was absolutely filthy. Purely on the experience of this visit I’m afraid that I would not choose to eat or even drink here again. If the place had more well trained staff and some decent beer then this could be a great family pub.
