Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Half Moon Inn
The village of Clyst St Mary is hidden away just off junction 30 of the M5. The Half Moon Inn sits on a bend of the main road through the village. It has no car park. So, it can be a bit of a scramble for spaces on the road outside.
The interior has 3 sections. You enter into the central bar area with a stone floor and where local drinkers congregate. Off to the left is a light and airy section decorated in turquoise and white colours. There are pictures of yachts on the walls, some for sale. There is a TV on one wall and the flooring is laminate. There is a large dining room/lounge to the right with a more cosy feel. A smoking area can be found to the side. There may well have been a garden area off to the rear. Pop music was playing inside. Wifi is available on request
This pub can be found in the 2024 Good Beer Guide and it has 4 handpulls. However, there are only 2 cask ales, each double clipped. Exeter Ferryman is the regular beer. Bays Devon Dumpling was the guest beer. It was in reasonable shape. John Smith's was also on keg. Ciders were Thatcher's Gold & Haze.
We were just about hungry enough to eat by now and enquired about eating. It was just before 6pm on a week night, but they had no space until 7pm. So, we decided not to eat. However, staff came over to our table shortly after and said that they could fit us in. Food was decent pub grub and didn't cost the earth.

Situated in the picturesque village of Clyst St Mary, less than a mile from junction 30 of the M5, The Half Moon is ideally situated for anyone visiting Westpoint Arena, Exeter Chiefs or Crealy Park.
They offer an extensive and affordable menu and can also provide quality accommodation for those passing through.
