A large country pub just off the main road from which it's clearly signposted. The building and its layout are well described by Old Blue, below. There is plenty of parking, although the locals take an interest in how you arrive – or maybe they had never seen a motorcycle before. The clientele were mainly the younger autochthotons using the pool table, there was a dartboard next to the pool table, and there were dog biscuits on the bar. Six ales on draft were Tribute, Sharp's Doombar and Atlantic, Pride and Sea Fury, plus Flack's Double Drop disguised as a house beer. The beer was in poor condition, much of it insipid and poorly kept. A pity, as it's a decent enough pub which is let down by its beer quality.

Originally called the Rising Sun, this largeish village inn has lots of exposed brickwork. The main entrance is towards the right hand side, with a long bar to the left and as you walk towards the rear and left you find a seating area, a pool table area, another seating area and finally a restaurant area, with vertical beams bordering them. There are garden areas to front and rear, the latter with a children’s play area also. I counted eight real ale pumps, but only three were in use, serving Doombar, Tribute and Ringwood Best.
It felt comfortable, and seemed quite alive and popular with its locals. I gather it has recently changed hands and the new landlords are making a lot of improvements. I think this could be an excellent pub if they improved the range of ales available.
