As described by Ian, below, this Palmer’s pub is quirky in terms of layout. The rooms ramble, all leading to the central bar from which there is access to a decked balcony with superb views over the adjacent countryside There is a small car park, but I imagine this will fill quickly during the Summer months. Access to the bar from the dining areas is potentially hazardous as the oche for the dartboard is right in front of the doorway. The bar has a laminate floor, a Scandinavian-style woodburner and a large TV showing a chat show. We found the staff very welcoming and friendly, while the other customers were mainly elderly ramblers and the pub dog was happy to see our pack. Five handpumps on the bar, but only 2 ales on, Palmer’s IPA and Copper. The keg selection was from Carlsberg, Guinness, Orchard Gold and Haze, and Moretti. It’s a pleasant bolthole while passing.

Palmers tied house down a dead end lane to Eype Beach.
Bit of a maze inside - enter through a porch area and dining tables set out as far as the eye can see. Loop back on yourself for a pleasant bar area that has nautical nick nacks, dartboard and main serving bar. Usual Palmers Beers on including 200 but no Tally Ho!
Food was expensive - panini for a tenner and Mrs M was expecting mayo with her tuna and for the tuna to be melted. My plougmans came with a standard bread roll, three slices of ham, couple of pickled onions, coleslaw and salad. No big guns - like a pork pie :-) This was £13. Coke and a 200 brought the bill over £30.
Beer was well kept and as I was first of the day, witnessed a pull through before dispense.
