Still as described by Blackthorn, below. There is plenty of parking, but I wouldn’t advise trying to go there in a large people carrier or towing a caravan as the road in is quite narrow. We went to the upstairs bar to find a single real ale on, Wadworth 6X, though the barman had to go to the downstairs bar to pour it as the pub was broken. The beer was in good condition. Other drinks available were Amstel, Moretti, Guinness, Carling and Thatcher’s cider. Copies of the local CAMRA newsletter were on the tables, the large TV screen was witched off, and the staff were helpful although busy. It didn’t feel cosy at all, not like a real pub, but it was a pleasant enough place to sit and enjoy a pint. It probably gets busy in the Summer though given its riverside location.

A Wadworth’s pub in a picturesque setting next to the River Avon. It’s an extensive place, with several different rooms, both upstairs and downstairs.
Downstairs has had a refurbishment since my last visit and is now a pleasant enough space, albeit in a slightly wine bar sort of way perhaps rather than your traditional pub. The floor is mostly an attractive stone tile, with some pine boards nearer the bar. There’s a good selection of tables with leather high backed chairs, and some leather sofa’s as well. This opens out on to a patio area at the rear adjacent to the river.
Upstairs the main bar is slightly more traditional, although still doesn’t feel especially pubby. A large mast in the centre of the room gives a nod to it’s waterside setting, and there was a piano in one corner. Apparently a pianist has been coming in to play, but this has now stopped for some reason. This area is carpeted throughout and there are again plenty of tables that look as though they may be intended more for use by diners. From here you can go on to a restaurant area with good views across the river and a carvery counter that seemed to be popular on a recent mid-week lunchtime. I understand that senior citizens having a carvery qualify for a free pudding, with would account for the fact that most of the punters seemed to be OAP’s.
From the other end of the bar you can go on in to a tiled conservatory, again with plenty of tables and chairs and this then leads out to another patio area with great views of the marina on one side and the river and weir on the other. This is a terrific spot, and whilst it was surprisingly quiet when I visited, I imagine it would get packed on a sunny weekend.
Besides the aforementioned carvery, the menu consisted of a good selection of pub grub dishes, and was divided in to sections such as a bar menu, all day dining, sandwiches, jackets, etc. Some of these seemed a little pricey (e.g.; ham, egg & chips was £8.50), but I didn’t eat myself so can’t comment on the quality. There is also a good selection of pizzas and a few specials chalked up on a board next to the bar.
Possibly they could do with some more staff on, since I was stood at the bar for a few minutes before anyone arrived as it appeared that the barmaid also had restaurant duties to attend to. That said, when someone did materialise she was friendly and helpful, and apologised for the wait.
Beers on tap were all from the Wadworth’s stable, with their 6X, Swordfish and Henry’s IPA. The solitary cider was Thatcher’s Gold.

I went with a group during the middle of November 2007. It was a clear crisp day and the view of the river was really something to see. There is plenty of parking.Upstairs in the dining room the view is even more spectacular. As well as a lovely carvery there was also other choices from the menu. Everything came piping hot and was most enjoyable.All the staff are polite and attentive.My group have Riverside down for a return visit(s). All in all a pure pleasure.
