"Community Pub" it says on the signwriting painted on the fascia, so that must account for the games and children's painting materials, along with as much cake as a well-stocked tearoom and an ice cream freezer. A limited food menu is on offer for much of the day.

Flooring is wooden boards, with the occasional rug, while seating & tables come in both high and low varieties.

The bar is not just for confectionery, you'll be pleased to hear, with 2 ciders and 4 ales served by hand pump, though with Harvey's Sussex and Taylor's Landlord forming 2 of those, you may want to look at the other two for something a little different - Gun Brewery seems to feature regularly. A reasonable keg range supplements these, with Sussex's Burning Sky & Only With Love and big business's Beavertown adding a little interest to the usual Guinness and Madri etc etc.

Blues rock formed the soundtrack for my mid-afternoon visit, so this is a relaxing venue in the Hove backstreets, albeit at a bit of a price premium (around £6 a pint, if I've deconstructed the bill correctly).

Fairly substantial pub hidden away in the Hove backstreets. Both dogs and children are welcome. There are 5 handpulls at the bar. Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter is the regular cask ale. Guests were Gun Project Babylon, Hand High 5 & Timothy Taylor Landlord. The fifth handpull was clipped with Seacider Grapefruit. Craft beers were Brixton Low Voltage, Loud Shirt After Glow, Burning Sky Arise, Beavertown Neck Oil & Gamma Ray & Only With Love Juicy AF. Keg ciders were Good Times Cider & Sxollie Granny Smith.

With this being our 11th pub, things were starting to get a little hazy, but I saw enough to make me think that this was one I'd like to return to at some point or other.

A large corner pub with multiple doors the only vestige of its previous layout: it is now all one large space, in alehouse style: a plain wooden floor and a bar counter in wood, stained dark on top but painted blue/grey below to match the wood panelling on the walls. A real fire and background music complete the picture. There are five hand pumps on the bar, and a friendly welcome from the young woman working behind it. There were two real ciders and three real ales on at the time of my visit (see photo). Perhaps not the best pub around here, but definitely worth a visit.
