This corner plot seems to date from the turn of the century, perhaps as a wine store; it was cordoned off a couple of weeks ago after someone dropped a shotgun outside which discharged.
Either way, aside from the impressive cornice to a partially coffered blue ceiling, the interior has been modernised though seemingly toned down a bit since their website’s photos were taken, with a modern floor, smoky blue wainscoting, the similar or white walls, plush furniture, eclectic mixed prints including flyers for works by Graham Greene (who lived on Clapham Common), sport on multiple silent TVs (one watched), oil paintings, including a portrait of one of our greatest actors: Rodney Bewes, all to a decent soundtrack, lapped up by young trendy drinkers.
There were just two cask offerings, with a reversed Ghost Ship clip, then something rugby-themed – and therefore undoubtedly undrinkable – no doubt from a south London brewery, then Oil, £3.50 a half.
This is a lot better than the O’Neill’s (opposite), but the heart of the matter is that there wasn’t a drinkable cask choice here; the Alexandra is preferable, the power and the glory belonging to the Prince of Wales, a short walk up the lawless roads.

Rather off-putting to enter a pub which smells strongly of fish, even if it was Friday, but otherwise it seemed a lively, multi-cultural sort of place with bare floors and some peculiar jungle decorations hanging from the ceiling. Just one handpump in use dispensing Wandle with 16 or so keg taps. At least the place had a bit of a buzz about it.

Large room with bar to rear centre. Two weak real ales and various keg offerings.
