There was some work going on with a guy up a ladder and a smell of paint during a recent Tuesday evening visit. The friendly barmaid informed me that the larger lounge bar was closed so I had a lager from the standard keg range in the small wooden floored back bar. In here are some banquettes front and rear to the left and a serving counter on the rear wall to the right where the lounge can be seen through the back of the bar. There was some background music courtesy of an 80s music channel on the television, this was one of very few pubs in the area that wasn’t showing Man City Champions League football, but then I was the only customer. There is another seating area to the right of this bar, but I didn’t go in there. It’s a bit hard to judge a pub when half of it is closed, but the welcome was very friendly so I imagine this is a popular boozer when fully open. It’s just a shame that there’s no ale.
