An award winning refurbishment of this old brewers tudor icon. It's a beautiful pub, outside and in, but it's still a town centre dining pub, with a short stretch of bar counter facing the front door. This has four hand pumps of which two were unavailable at the time of our just after opening arrival. Timothy Taylor Landlord was badged but not available, and when I complained about this the licensee brought us a taster, after pulling it through, to supplement the local Weetwood Cheshire Cat (NBSS 2.5 - a tad cold). The floor space is dominated by dining tables and booths of one sort or another, and by 1970s pop music from some raucous loudspeakers. Altogether not my sort of place, but the gaffer was very friendly and helpful, and looking forward to retirement.

The White Lion is a Grade II listed building with a rich heritage and is a famous landmark.

The pub has been transformed by the licensee's feminine touch from an old tired pub into a traditional pub with a modern twist, based upon good old fashioned standards of courtesy and friendliness.

The pub offers a range of keg and cask ales and delicious home cooked food presented by the highly regarded resident chef Darren. The pub is committed to supporting neighbouring businesses, so all meals are prepared with only local produce.

All major sporting events shown on 3 plasma screens, Live Comedy Show on Thursday nights, Kareoke on Friday nights & Live Music on Saturday nights.

Best pub in Stockport!
