The Seven Stars was the busiest venue in the Printworks during a recent Tuesday evening crawl through it, which isn’t surprising as it’s a Spoons, well actually it’s a Lloyds No. 1 but what’s the difference. The usual JDW décor is in place with a counter up the right, high tables up the centre and a raised area with standard seating front left. In amongst the ample keg products are six hand pumps which were drawing the usual three suspects plus Hawks Head’s Five Hop (very hoppy), Rudgate’s Dinga Dinga and Brightside’s Hoppy Blonde. This is a Spoons with a shopping centre vibe, so not for me.

Dark and fairly dismal 'spoons that I stumbled upon whilst walking from Cathedral Square to the Marble Arch.

In need of an evening meal - so knew what I should be getting - app ordering, cheap, quick delivery. Food met all these points but you'll notice I didnt specify quality. Went for a mixed grill and the meat was as tough as old boots... some of it, you wouldn't give to a dog.

Should have complained but a mate had sent me a photo of a steak and ale pie he had at a different spoons.. For size, he had placed his finger over the top of said pie. He had to put the caption on the photo to say that he doesnt own a massive finger.

A shame, as I find the grills and breakfasts reliable.

The Seven Stars is a rather gloomy branch of Wetherspoon's which you probably wouldn't even notice if you happened to be walking past.

The usual 'spoon's selection of Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar were on, alongside 3 guest beers - Oakham JHB & Three B's Doff Cocker & Bee Blonde. I couldn't fault the beer condition or the price.

The interior is spread over a couple of floors. I chose a high table adjacent to the bar. Inevitably I'd chosen the one next to the local nutter who was trying to introduce a table of Manchester United fans (who he assumed were Everton fans) to a lone bloke wearing a Liverpool shirt. He seemed to find it all very amusing, but nobody was rising to the bait.
