Visited on a Monday evening in May. I think the previous reviewer must have missed a room, as there are two rooms, with the bar separating, and a curious 'in-between' spot in front of a window.

No drunk offering free drinks at the time of my visit, just a couple of codgers peacefully watching the TV, which was either showing the news or an early evening quiz show or something of that ilk.

Only Holts Bitter on cask. To be fair, this was in very decent nick, even though it's not something I'd normally seek out. I think is was about £3.50 a pint so can't complain about that pricing either.

Mature lady behind the bar, giving landlady vibes, and no issues with service.

Not somewhere I'd feel the need to rush back to, but no regrets on getting this ticked off.

Before heading to Leigh, I had used ChatGPT to give me the best 4 pubs in Leigh. It showed its working out and included the two Good Beer Guide entries (alas, Bobbin not open on a Wednesday), so I trusted it.

One of the recommendations was the something brewery tap - which I investigated but was met with etched glass doors saying "Members Only". Couldn't be ar*sed to question such a directive, so turned the corner to see this pub. With one space free, I thought I would give it a go.

Instantly pounced on by the drunkest man I have ever seen on a Wednesday at 17:00. He was buying pints and also Jagerbombs.... with no particular recipient in mind. He offered (nigh on insisted) that I have one. I declined, but was introduced to his less drunk mate.

Top marks for friendliness of the locals.

Single roomer, with Holts Bitter the only cask. There's no way my new friend could have got that drunk on Holts.

A decent pub by the main shopping area. Real ales available. Friendly enough.
